TOTP code generation. Breach monitoring against the Have I Been Pwned database. Encrypted import/export from every major manager.

These are baseline features in 2026 — not premium upsells. Free users get the same encryption stack, the same browser extension, and the same sync as paying users. We monetize the long tail (API keys, attachments, family sharing, CLI), not the basics.

We don't have a sales team, an enterprise procurement department, or a 200-person org chart to fund. Engineering is the headcount, hosting is the variable cost, and the rest is margin we deliberately keep small. Lower price expands the audience, expanded audience funds engineering — a flywheel that works when overhead stays low.

The Premium tier covers the cost of running the service plus a sustainable margin to fund ongoing development. We don't VC-subsidize price; the unit economics work today.

1Password Individual: $2.99–$4.99/month, $4.99 for the Families plan. PassCryp Premium covers Families equivalent at $2.99 flat.

Bitwarden Premium: $10/year ($0.83/month) — cheaper than us. Honest. If pure price is the only factor, Bitwarden is the cheapest paid option. PassCryp adds API key tracking, expiry alerts, and a cleaner UX for the extra dollars.

LastPass Premium: $3/month, but the free tier restricts device types and the breach history makes it hard to recommend.
